Literacy and Numeracy
Literacy
• Literacy embraces all aspects of the written and spoken word.
• Our strong commitment to the English curriculum is evident in the emphasis that we place on our Early Years Literacy Program for Prep - 4 students and our Middle Years Literacy Program for Years 5 - 6
• Students deemed "at educational risk" are supported through Reading Recovery, Speech Therapy and Bridging the Gap to help them reach their full potential.
• Students deemed capable of achieving beyond their expected VELS level are challenged appropriately.

Numeracy
• In all aspects of Numeracy, our teaching reflects the importance of Maths in everyday life.
• Open ended tasks and games play an important part in the teaching of Maths as these can extend students as well as reinforcing number facts for all pupils.
• A range of learning strategies is used, including whole class or level activities, co-operative learning, individual and group tasks. In this way, number skills and computational skills are reinforced daily to ensure success in Maths learning.
• Teachers regularly attend Professional Development courses, thus keeping abreast of current trends in Numeracy education.
